The Double German over England!

At midday, as the Red Bull roared over the finish line to the waving checkered flag of the Europe Grand Prix, the signs of what was to repeat further to the south ( Bloemfontein, South Africa) were just about clear to all but to the English football followers. Sebastian Vettel pointed a winning finger to the sky, the German flag raised higher than a couple of sad St George’s Cross, brought by Hamilton and Button. The first battle of the day – on the Valencia F1 race track was done:

Germany 1 – England 0

Yet, as the English hopes for a F1 title are modest, the hopes for the FIFA football world cup are over the top, and beyond! It is true that the Lampard crack shot crossed the line! But it is also true that nothing much happened for the Brits – the Terry leaded defence was lacking intensity and precision, the Gerrard / Barry mid field had no surprise to it, the Rooney lost all on himself out of location, having at times to regress to his half court to receive the ball… the Germans did it all right (read full resume on the FIFA site) and even had the extra touch of luck – or was it the Vettel finger?

Germany 2 – england 0

Well, we can always hope for an English player making the Arsenal squad ;)
